Yes, please have your card with you when you come to the circulation desk. This protects you in two ways: 1) Your privacy is ensured because no one will be able to access your account by simply giving your name to staff and 2) staff can handle your requests more accurately if they pull up your account by your card's barcode rather than by your name. Since we share a circulation system with 65 other libraries, there are frequently people in our system with the same name.
With staff permission, yes. We allow flyers for community and cultural events and educational programs or services. We do not allow personal "for rent," "for hire," or "for sale" type flyers. Flyers that do not include an event date will be taken down two weeks after having been posted.
In most cases, yes. We are part of the Mid-Hudson Library System and you can return items to any public library in Columbia, Greene, Ulster, Dutchess and Putnam counties. Please note that the East Greenbush and Albany Public Libraries are not in our system and you cannot return our items to them nor can you return their items to us.
We prefer for you to bring items into the library during our open hours.
If you return an item to our book return box when the library is closed, it will be checked in the following morning with the previous day's date. For example, if you returned something on Thursday night at 11pm, we would check it in on Friday morning but using Thursday's date so the item would not be considered late and would not accrue a fine.
